About the space

The Publican’s is a spacious holiday home, set up for families, friends and keen boaties who want to enjoy Whitianga.

Our location is second to none. You can leave the car keys on the hook and walk everywhere – Step out the door and stroll just 100m to the beach, and the Whitianga town centre (shops, pubs, and cafes) just 150m away. The boat ramp, ferry and Lost Spring thermal pools are all within a 5-minute walk.

Everything you need for a perfect stay

We want you to feel at home, so The Publican’s is stocked with the essentials. You’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, a washing machine, clothesline, and a cosy lounge with a TV, stereo, and Wi-Fi. For the cooler months, we have a heat pump and room heaters.

The house is sparkling clean, with fresh linen, bath towels and beach towels provided.

In the warmer months, life spills out onto the patio and backyard. The property is spacious and fully fenced – safe for children and great for setting up a game of cricket.
In the cooler months, you can warm up by the fireplace (firewood provided).

We have a BBQ available (please clean after use) and outdoor furniture to enjoy those sunny days and long summer nights.

Fishing/diving groups and water activities

We know that for many people, a trip to Whitianga is all about the water. We’re fully equipped for fishing and diving trips with plenty of off-street boat parking and a dedicated stainless steel bench for filleting your catch.

We are 150m from the Whitianga boat ramp – so you can launch and keep your trailer at The Publican’s. There is an optional bait freezer available if you need it, and a hose to wash down the boat after a day out.

We have kayaks and beach toys available for use. There’s a hot outdoor shower, which is a game-changer for rinsing off divers or sandy kids before heading inside.

Heading to Cathedral Cove or Hot Water Beach? We’re just a 5-minute stroll from the Whitianga wharf where most boat trips depart, or Hahei and Hot Water Beach are a 30-40 minute drive away.

Perfect for any group

The Publican’s is a single-level four bedroom home that accommodates groups from two to ten people. The layout is designed for socialising, with a large lounge and outdoor spaces that makes it easy to host group dinners or just relax together after a day at the beach.

For smaller groups 2-6 people, you’ll enjoy the ample space and comfort of the entire property and garden.

For larger groups, the generous layout easily accommodates everyone under one roof, with plenty of space to relax.

Contractors and longer term stays , we are GST registered and can offer full service accommodation so all the staff need to do is get to work.
