About the space

Sybil’s Place is a classic Kiwi beach house, set up for families, friends and keen boaties who want to enjoy Whitianga.

Our location is second to none. You can leave the car keys on the hook and walk everywhere – the beach is a just a 100m stroll away, and the Whitianga town centre (shops, pubs, and cafes) is just 150m away. The boat ramp, ferry and Lost Spring thermal pools are all within a 5-minute walk.

Everything you need for a perfect stay

Sybil’s Place is stocked with the essentials, so you feel welcome as soon as you step in the door. You’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, a washing machine, clothesline, and a lounge with a TV, stereo, and Wi-Fi. For the cooler months, we have a heat pump and room heaters.

The house is sparkling clean, with fresh linen, bath towels and beach towels provided.

The property is spacious and fully fenced, making it safe for children and great for setting up a game of backyard cricket.

We have a BBQ available (please clean after use) and outdoor furniture to enjoy those sunny days and long summer nights.

Fishing/diving groups and water activities

We know that for many people, a trip to Whitianga is all about the water.

We’re fully equipped for fishing and diving trips with plenty of off-street boat parking and a dedicated stainless steel bench for filleting your catch. We are 150m from the Whitianga boat ramp – so you can launch and keep your trailer at Sybil’s. There is an optional bait freezer available if you need it, and a hose to wash down the boat after a day out.

We have kayaks and beach toys available for use. There’s a hot outdoor shower, which is a game-changer for rinsing off divers or sandy kids before heading inside.

Heading to Cathedral Cove or Hot Water Beach? We’re just a 5-minute stroll from the Whitianga wharf where most boat trips depart, or Hahei and Hot Water Beach are a 30-40 minute drive away.

Layout and sleeping arrangements

Sybil’s Place offers a flexible arrangement that works for groups from two to ten people. The property consists of a main two-bedroom home upstairs (sleeping up to six) and a fully self-contained two-bedroom flat downstairs (sleeping up to four).

For smaller groups, this layout means incredible value and choice: you get to select the unit that suits you best while enjoying the total privacy and exclusive use of the entire property and garden.

For larger groups or two families, it allows space for everyone to come together to socialise, while having separate spaces to retreat to at night.

No matter your group size, you will always have sole occupancy of the entire property.
